Men’s Soccer Hangs Tough with Holy Cross

WORCESTER, MA - Anna Maria took on Division I rival Holy Cross in a non-conference men's soccer game, losing 2-0 to the Crusaders Tuesday afternoon at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.

With the loss, the AMCATS fall to an overall record of 1-3 on the season.

The Anna Maria defense gave the Division I team some trouble throughout the contest, with the score deadlocked at 0-0 for the first 58 minutes of play before Holy Cross scored two goals in quick succession to give the game its final score of 2-0, with the two goals happening just 30 seconds apart.

Lucas Cardoso and Ariel García both tested the Holy Cross goalkeeper, each taking shots on goal, forcing the keeper to make saves to keep the contest tilted in favor of the home team.

Federico Foganio played the entire game in net for the AMCATS, making five saves to help keep the Crusaders' offense at bay.

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday, September 13th, to host Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup beginning at 4:30 p.m.
