PAXTON, MA - Anna Maria College played Fitchburg State University to a 1-1 draw in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer game on Saturday afternoon at Caparso Field.
With the result, the AMCATS' overall record adjusts to 3-9-2 and 2-2-2 in conference play.
The game got off to an unusual start with Anna Maria taking an early 1-0 lead when Kyle Brocker converted a penalty kick just four minutes into the game. The Falcons answered with a penalty of their own just 32 seconds later, sending the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.
The second half saw no goals from either side, with the Falcons holding a narrow 12-11 advantage in total shots, while the AMCATS edged them in shots on target, 6-5. In addition to scoring his eighth goal of the season, Kyle Brocker recorded two shots on target, with Benjamin Le, Hugo Drougard, Nils Cofalka, and Chris Zeppieri each adding one.
Today's game marks the final regular-season home game of the season. Anna Maria returns for the penultimate regular-season match on Saturday, October 25th, at Westfield State. Kick-off is scheduled for 11 a.m.
