PAXTON, MA - Anna Maria defeated Massachusetts Maritime Academy 3-0 in a Massachusetts State Athletic Conference men's soccer game on Saturday morning at Caparso Field.
With the result, the AMCATS' overall record improves to 2-5-1 and 1-1-1 in the MASCAC.
Anna Maria dominated possession throughout the first half, generating multiple scoring chances while outshooting the visitors 9-5. Sam Christian and Kyle Brocker each put shots on target, with Brocker nearly breaking the deadlock after a rebound off the post fell to his feet, but the Buccaneers' goalkeeper came up with a clutch save to keep the game scoreless heading into halftime.
The AMCATS struck quickly after the break, scoring twice in the first four minutes of the second half. Ariel García opened the scoring with an unassisted finish just two minutes in. Moments later, Kyle Brocker converted off a corner from Hugo Drougard to give the home side a 2-0 advantage. Brocker added insult to injury with a final goal with just 11 seconds remaining in the contest to close out scoring for the game. He was assisted on the play by Benjamin Le.
Romain Baert played the entire game in net for the AMCATS, making saves to maintain the shutout and pick up the squad's first MASCAC win of the season.
Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday, October 1st, for a road game against Wheaton. Kick off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
