Men's Soccer Kicks Off Season With 2-0 Road Win Over Bison

DUDLEY, MA - On Friday, August 29th the Anna Maria College men's soccer team traveled to Nichols College Bison for their first game of the regular season. The AMCATS won the game 2-0.

The AMCATS dominated the offense during the first half, outshooting the Bison 7-2 with 4 shots on goal. Despite the strong offensive presence from the AMCATS, the Bison goalkeeper Derek Axon was able to keep the game scoreless throughout the first half.

Tied up 0 to 0, The AMCATS would come out even stronger in the second half completely controlling play. The AMCATS would break the tie off a pass from Hugo Drougard to Isidore Papillon who would find the back of the net for the AMCATS and score the first goal of the game. The AMCATS would remain strong on defense, not allowing many shots or opportunities for the Bison, and the AMCATS goalie Federico Foganio would keep the Bison off the score board. The AMCATS would continue the pressure against the Bison and would find themselves capitalizing off a penalty kick from Kyle Brocker to put the AMCATS up against the Bison by two with about three minutes left to play. Leading over the Bison, Federico Foganio would hold down the fort accompanied by some strong defensive play from the AMCATS to help keep the Bison scoreless as the second half would come to a close. The AMCATS would open up the season with a 2 to 0 win over the Bison of Nichols College.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Monday September 1st, 2025 where they will travel to Worcester, MA to take on the Goats of WPI, for their second game of the regular season. Opening kickoff is set for 1:00pm.
