PAXTON, MA - Anna Maria College was bested by Clark University 3-2 in a non-conference collegiate men's soccer game on Wednesday night at Caparso Field.
With the result, the AMCATS' overall record drops to 3-9-1, while remaining 2-2-1 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
After letting up an early goal, the home team went into the halftime break trailing 1-0. Ariel Garcia got things rolling early in the second half, scoring his third goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1, assisted on the play by Isidore Papillon. Two minutes later, the Cougars managed to retake a 2-1 advantage.
Kyle Brocker stepped up for the AMCATS, sinking his seventh goal of the year off a nice pass from Ben Chikwanha to even the game at 2-2 with just over ten minutes remaining. Unfortunately for Anna Maria, Clark scored the game-winner in the 83rd minute, putting the game out of reach.
Federico Foganio had five saves in 90 minutes in net for the AMCATS, who took a total of 13 shots, seven of which were on target. Jayden Zarco De-La-Cruz led the offensive efforts, taking three shots on goal.
Anna Maria returns to action for their final regular-season home game of the season, a MASCAC matchup against Fitchburg State on Saturday, October 18th. Kick-off is scheduled for noon.
