SALEM, MA - Anna Maria College men's soccer was defeated 3-1 by Salem State University in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Playoff Quarterfinals on Wednesday night at the O'Keefe Sports Complex.
With the loss, the AMCATS close out their first-ever MASCAC playoff appearance, finishing the season with a 3-3-2 conference record and a 4-10-2 mark overall.
Trailing 3-0 late in the second half, the AMCATS were awarded a penalty kick after being fouled in the box. Sophomore forward Kyle Brocker took the shot, burying his 10th goal of the season to put Anna Maria on the board. Unfortunately, the comeback effort fell just short as time expired before the AMCATS could get back in the game.
Freshman goalkeeper Federico Foganio turned in a strong performance between the posts, making 13 saves while facing 25 total shots. Offensively, the AMCATS recorded 12 shots, nine on target, led by Sam Christian and Jayden Zarco de la Cruz, who each tallied two shots on goal.
