PAXTON, MA – Anna Maria College men's basketball opened the 2025–26 season on Monday night, falling 77-71 to Regis College in a non-conference matchup at the Fuller Activities Center.
With the result, the AMCATS begin the year 0-1 overall.
Anna Maria set the tone early, storming out to a 14-1 lead behind a three-pointer from Lucas Miglionico, layups from Nolan Serafin and Jopaul McKrieth, and a tip-in finish for a three-point play from Alec Fournier to cap the opening run. The Pride responded before halftime, rallying to trim the deficit to 31-29 at the break.
The second half featured tightly contested action until Regis pulled ahead late, using a 13-point swing to build a 68-55 advantage with just over four minutes remaining. The AMCATS made one final push, highlighted by a McKrieth layup and free throw to cut the gap to five, but ultimately ran out of time before completing the comeback.
Four AMCATS finished in double-figure scoring, paced by McKrieth's 26 points on 9-for-13 shooting to go with a team-high 12 rebounds. Serafin added 12 points and six boards, while Miglionico and Fournier each chipped in 11 points. Fournier also hauled in five rebounds off the bench.
Anna Maria returns to the court on Friday, November 14, in the opening round of the Gordon Classic against Bates College. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
