Men’s Basketball Stopped Short by Lancers

WORCESTER, Mass. - Anna Maria College was defeated 87-81 by Worcester State University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the AMCATS fall to 4-12 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

Lucas Miglionico powered the AMCATS offense, finishing with a monstrous career-high of 34 points, going 5-for-9 from the three-point line. Miglioncio helped his squad to a fast start, shooting 4-for-6 from three for 16 total points to propel the AMCATS to a 48-42 advantage to end the first half.

From there, the Lancers battled back, holding Anna Maria to just 33 points in the second half while putting up 45 to take a lead that the AMCATS could not recover from.

Miglionico led all players with 34, finishing 5-for-9 from behind the arc. Nolan Serafin scored 15 points, his fifth straight game scoring at least 14 points, while finishing with a team-high seven rebounds.

Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 28, hosting Framingham State University in a MASCAC matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
