Men's Basketball Outpaces Trailblazers

PAXTON, Mass. - Anna Maria College defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 81–66 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball matchup Saturday afternoon at the Fuller Activities Center.

With the win, the AMCATS improved to 4-8 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Anna Maria overcame a slow start that saw the team fall behind by nine points midway through the first half. The momentum shifted behind the offensive spark of Lucas Miglionico, who scored 11 of his game-high 25 points in the opening period, including a three-pointer, to push the AMCATS to a 30-25 lead at halftime.

MCLA cut the deficit to two points midway through the second half, but Joe Ingegneri answered with back-to-back three-pointers to extend Anna Maria's lead to 55-47 and force a Trailblazers timeout. Nolan Serafin continued the surge, knocking down a corner three to give the AMCATS their largest lead of the night so far at 73–60 with under four minutes remaining. Anna Maria capitalized at the free-throw line down the stretch, converting 20 free throws in the second half to seal the 81-66 victory.

Miglionico led all scorers with a career-high 25 points, shooting 14-for-16 from the foul line. Serafin added 14 points off the bench on 5-of-6 shooting, while Logan Talbot chipped in 11 points. Alec Fournier recorded a team-high seven rebounds and added seven points.

Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday, January 14, when it hosts Bridgewater State University at 7 p.m.
