Men’s Basketball Edged Out by Westfield

PAXTON, Mass. - Anna Maria College was defeated 67-65 by Westfield State University in a tightly contested Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Wednesday evening at the Fuller Activities Center.

With the loss, the AMCATS fall to 5-17 overall and 2-9 in conference play.

Anna Maria battled from the opening tip. Nolan Serafin and Lucas Miglionico each scored nine points in the first half, helping the AMCATS match Westfield basket for basket and send the game into halftime tied 32-32.

The second half featured 13 ties and 12 lead changes as neither team was able to create separation. Trailing 67-65 in the closing seconds, Anna Maria had one final opportunity, but Logan Talbot's three-point attempt at the buzzer was off the mark.

Miglionico finished with a team-high 21 points and six rebounds. Serafin recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 2-for-3 from three-point range. Talbot added nine points and five rebounds.

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday, February 14, with a 7 p.m. road matchup against Framingham State University.
