Men’s Basketball Bests Norwich on New Year’s Day

PAXTON, MA – Anna Maria College defeated Norwich University 67-56 in a non-conference collegiate men's basketball game on Thursday afternoon at the Fuller Activities Center.

With the win, the AMCATS open the new year on a positive note, improving to 3-6 overall heading into MASCAC play.

Anna Maria came out firing, knocking down several mid-range jumpers to build a 15-3 lead early in the first half, with a jumper from Nolan Serafin forcing a Norwich timeout with 13:30 remaining. The Cadets responded down the stretch, closing the half strong and tying the game with a three-point play just before the buzzer to send the teams into the locker rooms deadlocked at 32-32.

The AMCATS regained the lead early in the second half and never looked back. Lucas Miglionico led the way offensively, scoring 12 of his game-high 15 points after halftime to keep the Cadets at bay and secure Anna Maria's second straight victory.

Miglionico and Logan Talboit paced the AMCATS with 15 points apiece, each adding two assists and a steal while combining for nine rebounds. Serafin provided a spark off the bench with seven points, while Ryan Outlow pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday, January 3, with a road matchup at Rivier University set for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
