AMCATS EXTEND WIN STREAK TO SIX WITH DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP
The Anna maria Softball team trveld to Chicopee, Mass. to take on the blazers of Elms College.
Game One -
Chicopee, Mass. — The Anna Maria College softball team erupted for 13 runs on 15 hits to power past Elms College, 13-8, in a high-scoring non-conference matchup.
The AMCATS wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard, striking in the first inning on an RBI double from Meaghan Doyle before the bats truly caught fire in the middle innings. After Elms briefly grabbed momentum, the AMCATS responded with a massive third inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Angela Marie Gilmartin and clutch RBI knocks from Madisyn Crossman and Mae McGowan to reclaim control.
From there, the offense kept its foot on the gas. The fourth inning saw the AMCATS take advantage of defensive miscues while capitalizing with timely hitting, stretching the lead in a game that quickly turned into an offensive showcase. The AMCATS continued to pile on in the fifth, with Madison Levesque delivering another key RBI and the lineup turning over to keep the pressure constant.
Ella Moon was electric at the top, going 3-for-4, scoring three times, and wreaking havoc on the basepaths with multiple stolen bases. Crossman powered the middle of the lineup with three RBI and three runs scored, while Levesque matched her with three RBI of her own. Doyle and Gilmartin each added two hits and two RBI, giving the AMCATS production up and down the order.
In the circle, Makenna Lovelette battled through all seven innings to secure the complete-game victory, limiting damage in key moments while her offense continued to surge.
With contributions coming from every spot in the lineup and momentum-shifting innings throughout, the AMCATS turned Game One into an offensive statement to open the doubleheader.
Game Two -
The Anna Maria College softball team closed out a dominant doubleheader sweep of Elms College in emphatic fashion, exploding for a 17-2 run-rule victory on Thursday evening.
The AMCATS offense was relentless from start to finish, piling up 15 hits and driving in 14 runs in a complete offensive showcase. Anna Maria broke things open with a massive sixth inning, turning a comfortable lead into a statement win.
Paige Stewart led the charge with a standout performance, recording two hits and a game-high four RBIs, coming through in key moments to spark the surge. Meaghan Doyle added two hits and a pair of RBIs, while Emilia Carvalhoand Mae McGowan each drove in three runs to keep the pressure on all game long.
Angela Marie Gilmartin was a constant presence on the bases, crossing the plate four times, while Ella Moon set the tone at the top of the lineup with two hits and three runs scored. Ava Alvarado chipped in with a multi-hit effort and an RBI to round out the offensive explosion.
The AMCATS wasted no time asserting control, stringing together timely hits and capitalizing on every opportunity to steadily build its lead before putting the game away in the late innings.
In the circle, Mackenzie Evers delivered a composed and efficient complete-game performance. The right-hander allowed just two hits and two runs over six innings, working through traffic and limiting damage to secure the win.
With the sweep complete, Anna Maria continues to build momentum, showcasing both its offensive firepower and all-around depth as the season rolls on.
