MOON BATS IN TWO IN 6-2 WIN OVER OWLS

The AMCATS of Anna Maria College took on the Owls of Maine-Presque Isle for a non-conference matchup. The AMCATS would win the game 6 to 2. 

 

The AMCATS would get the scoring started early against the Owls, as they would get four runs in the bottom of the second inning to get an early lead on the Owls 4 to 0. The third and fourth innings would be clean defensively for both teams, and the AMCATS would maintain their 4 to 0 lead heading into the top of the fifth inning. The Owls were not going away, and would continue to fight against the AMCATS, as they would score 2 runs in the top of the fifth inning to make it a 4 to 2 game heading into the bottom of the fifth. The AMCATS would come out in the bottom of the fifth and sixth inning strong offensively to increases their lead against the Owls. Angela Marie Martin would double to center field, to score Katelyn Melvin for the AMCATS 5th run of the game in the bottom of the fifth. The AMCATS would keep the Owls off the score board for the remainder of the game and would add their 6th and final run in the bottom of the 6thinning off an Ella Moon triple who would score Mae McGowan. The AMCATS strong outing on the mound and aggressive bats at the plate would secure the win over the Owls 6 to 2. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Mackenzie Evers would secure her 2nd win of the season, pitching 4 innings recording 5 strikeouts, 4 hits, and 1 walk against the Owls. 
  • Lauryn Meade would earn her first save of the season, completely shutting down the Owls striking out 6 giving up no hits or runs in two innings pitched. 
  • Ella Moon would record her first career triple against the Owls and would lead the AMCATS in RBIs with 2. 
  • Angela Marie Gilmartin would record her first career double against the Owls and her first career RBI for the AMCATS. 

 

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Thursday April 17th, where they will travel to Saint Joesph of Connecticut for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference double header matchup. Opening pitch is set for 3:00pm.
