softball falls to Sharks on the Road

BRIGHTON, MA - On Thursday , the Anna Maria College softball team would travel to Brighton, MA to take on the Sharks of Simmons University for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader. The AMCATS would lose both games to the Sharks 8-1 in game one and 5-0 in game two

GAME ONE:

The AMCATS would come out swinging as Ella Moon started the game off with a triple out to right field. The bats behind her would be quiet and end up leaving Moon on base. The Sharks found momentum early having their own triple and a sacrifice fly ball to take the lead 2-0 after the first. The AMCATS would continue to try and make a push back but would come up short. In the bottom of the third inning the Sharks would add another 3 runs onto their lead as they would get a runner on base by a throwing error followed by a bunt to have runners on first and second. Zoe Soule would hit a triple sending two runs home and then would make it home on a pass ball. The AMCATS would continue to try and get momentum back into the game being down 5-0. The bottom of the fifth inning the Sharks would start back where they left off with a double to center. Raya Anderson would bring both home as she homered out to left center. Madison Ayik would get the AMCATS going following up a single from Kiki Hicks as she doubled out to right field and scoring the first run of the game. The Sharks would add on another triple who then would be brought home by a single up the left side. The AMCATS would fall the Sharks 8-1.  

GAME TWO:

The Sharks would find themselves picking up where they left off as five singles would help them get onto the board quickly leading 3-0 after the first inning. The sharks would add onto their lead as Emily Deleault singled to right field and advancing to second base on an error. Raya Anderson would send Deleault home as she singled and advanced on a throwing error. The AMCATS would hold the Sharks to their 4-0 lead while holding them off defensively. They would continue to get the bats going as the would find themselves getting on base in any fashion. In the bottom of the sixth inning the Sharks would add on their last run of the game as a fielding error would send home the final run from third base. The AMCATS would lose the game 5-0.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Sunday April 27th, 2025 where they will host the Saints of Emmanuel College or a Great Northeast Athletic Conference softball doubleheader matchup. Opening Pitch is set for 2:00pm.
