Katie Costa Named Assistant Softball Coach

PAXTON, MA – Katie Costa has been named Assistant Coach of the Anna Maria College softball program for the 2025–26 season. Costa will work closely with Head Coach Brian Claypool, contributing to all aspects of the AMCATS softball operations.

Costa brings more than ten years of coaching experience at both the youth and collegiate levels. Most recently, she served as Assistant Coach and Director of Operations for the Division I Bryant University softball program (2024–25). Prior to her time at Bryant, she spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Bridgewater State, one year at Wheaton College, and four years at Rhode Island College, where she worked with Coach Claypool, who was the head coach for RIC at the time (2018–22).

Alongside her collegiate coaching career, Costa has extensive experience leading travel softball teams. Since 2022, she has been the head coach of the Ocean State Outlaws, having previously coached with the New England Phoenix (2020–22) and the CLCF Bombers (2015–20).

Claypool is excited to be reunited with his former assistant coach, stating, "I'm thrilled to welcome Katie back to my coaching staff. Having worked with her for many years, I've seen firsthand the passion, loyalty, and deep knowledge of the game she brings every single day. Her energy is infectious and elevates everyone around her—players and coaches alike. Katie will be a tremendous asset to our program, and I'm excited for our squad to benefit from her leadership and enthusiasm
