Football Dominates MASCAC Weekly Awards
PAXTON, MA - Two Anna Maria College football players earned Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly awards for their impressive performances in Saturday's thrilling 47-43 victory over conference rival UMass Dartmouth.
For the second week in a row, Nikolay Boyce was named MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week. The quarterback put up a monstrous stat line, with career-highs in multiple categories, including 421 passing yards and five touchdown passes. With a completion percentage of nearly 60 and 9.0 yards per attempt, Boyce was instrumental in leading the AMCATS to victory over the Corsairs. The freshman was clutch, facilitating a seven-play, 57-yard game-winning drive with just 55 seconds remaining in the contest, culminating in a 14-yard touchdown pass to Ka'Marion Thomas to take down UMass Dartmouth.
Thomas joined his quarterback in the weekly honors, earning MASCAC Rookie of the Week after a breakout performance. The freshman wide receiver hauled in 11 catches for 171 yards and three touchdowns with an average of 15.5 yards per catch and a long of 34.
Boyce and Thomas return to play when the AMCATS take on MASCAC rival Westfield State in a road game beginning at noon on Saturday, October 4th.
