Women’s Soccer Blanked by Bloodhounds

PAXTON, MA – Anna Maria College fell 1-0 to John Jay College in a non-conference women's soccer matchup on Wednesday afternoon at Caparso Field.

With the loss, the AMCATS drop to 1-9-2 overall while remaining 1-2-1 in MASCAC play.

The Bloodhounds struck early, finding the back of the net just ten minutes into the contest to take a 1-0 lead. From there, the AMCATS settled in defensively, anchored by goalkeeper Brooke Austin, who made several key stops to keep her team within striking distance.

That first-half goal proved to be the difference, as both sides were held scoreless through the remainder of the match. Austin finished with 11 saves on the day, while Sydney Cohen, Jillian Caruso, and Olivia Guertin each recorded shots for the home team.

Anna Maria returns to MASCAC play on Saturday, October 11, when they host Framingham State for a noon kickoff at Caparso Field.
