Boyce and DeMartino Earn Football MASCAC Weekly Awards
PAXTON, MA – Two Anna Maria College football players earned Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly awards for their standout performances in Saturday's thrilling overtime win against conference rival Massachusetts Maritime, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Freshman quarterback Nikolay Boyce took home multiple honors, being named both Rookie of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week. Boyce threw for a career-high 253 yards on 23 completions, finishing with three touchdowns to guide the AMCATS to their first-ever MASCAC victory over the Buccaneers in a 33-27 overtime decision.
On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore Charles DeMartino was recognized for his dominant effort, leading all players with 15 total tackles, including 12 solo stops, while also forcing a fumble and registering two quarterback hurries.
The AMCATS will look to keep their momentum rolling when they host UMass Dartmouth in another MASCAC matchup at Caparso Field on Saturday, September 27th, at 1:30 p.m.
