BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. — The Anna Maria College Women's lacrosse team dropped a road contest to Massachusetts Maritime, 13-4.
After a tough start to the conference matchup, Megan Tegethoff sparked the AMCATS offense, netting a pair of goals, including a free-position finish to get Anna Maria on the board late in the first quarter. She stayed aggressive all game, leading the attack and consistently pressuring the Buccaneers defense.
Kelsey Wilson added to the scoring column with a free-position goal of her own in the second quarter, helping the AMCATS build some momentum. Tegethoff struck again shortly after, finding the back of the net unassisted to bring the AMCATS within striking distance midway through the half.
Defensively, Grace Holden anchored the effort in net, turning aside nine shots while facing heavy pressure throughout the matchup. She came up with several key saves to keep Anna Maria competing despite the shot differential.
The AMCATS also saw contributions in possession play, with Jada Kosowan and Kelsey Wilson helping control draws and create opportunities in transition.
The AMCATS continued to battle into the fourth, where Tegethoff capped off her strong performance with her third goal of the game, closing out the scoring for the AMCATS.
