AMCATS FALL TO VIKINGS IN DOUBLEHEADER MATCHUP

The Anna Maria softball team traveled to Salem, Mass. To take on the Salem State Vikings for a conference double header. The AMCATS would drop both games on the day.

Game One –

Salem, Mass. – The Anna Maria College softball team dropped game one of its doubleheader at Salem State, falling 8-3.

The AMCATS tallied five hits in the contest, with Mae McGowan and Meaghan Doyle each recording a hit and crossing the plate to lead the offense. Ava Alvarado provided the big swing for Anna Maria, driving in two runs with a single, while Madisyn Crossman added an RBI to account for the AMCATS scoring.

Makenna Lovelette went the distance in the circle, tossing 6.0 innings and striking out four. After surrendering runs in the middle innings, the right-hander settled in and limited further damage down the stretch.

Defensively, the AMCATS turned in a steady effort, with Crossman, Emma Brewer, and Madison Levesque each contributing with clean plays in the field.

Game Two – 

The Anna Maria College softball team wrapped up its conference doubleheader falling in game two 8-0 through five innings. 

The AMCATS worked to generate offense early, putting the ball in play and battling through each at-bat. Anna Maria totaled three hits on the game, with Mae McGowanMadison Levesque, and Ava Alvarado each recording a hit. Alvarado also drove in the AMCATS lone run, capitalizing on an opportunity to bring a runner across and keep momentum within reach.

On the basepaths, Anna Maria stayed aggressive, looking to create pressure and manufacture scoring chances. Defensively, the AMCATS continued to compete through all five innings, working through tough situations and staying engaged inning by inning.

In the circle, Mackenzie Evers went the distance, battling through 4.2 innings while facing a heavy workload. The right-hander showed resilience, continuing to attack hitters and give the AMCATS a chance to respond offensively.

While the scoreboard didn't fall in Anna Maria's favor, the group showed persistence and energy throughout the contest. With conference play continuing, the AMCATS will look to build on the positives and turn those competitive moments into results moving forward.

Anna Maria returns to action in its next matchup with a focus on tightening execution and capitalizing on scoring opportunities.

 

The AMCATS are back in action on Monday April 20th, as they travel to Fitchburg, Mass. To take on the Falcons of Fitchburg State in a Conference double header. Opening pitch is set for 3:00pm
