AMCATS DROP TWO TO LANCERS

AMCATS DROP TWO TO LANCERS

WORCESTER, Mass. — The Anna Maria softball team traveled down the road to Worcester, Mass to take on the Lancers of Worcester State, in a conference doubleheader matchup.

Game one –

The AMCATS fell in game one 10-1 through five innings in game one of a conference matchup double header against the Lancers.

Despite the early deficit, the AMCATS continued to compete at the plate and put together quality moments offensively. Ella Moon led the way, going 2-for-3 and driving in the AMCATS lone run with a fifth-inning single to left. Moon's consistent presence at the plate gave the AMCATS a spark as they looked to chip away.

Madison Levesque also turned in a solid performance, recording a hit and scoring the team's only run, while Paige Stewart added a hit and was active on the bases with a stolen bag. Contributions from Madisyn Crossman helped keep innings alive as Anna Maria looked to build momentum.

In the circle, Makenna Lovelette battled through four innings against a tough Lancers lineup, striking out three and continuing to compete pitch by pitch despite a challenging first inning.

The AMCATS defense settled in as the game progressed, and continued to play with energy, refusing to let the early score dictate their effort. The group stayed aggressive and supportive throughout, showing the grit that defines this squad.

Game Two-

The AMCATS team battled through a tough Game Two matchup, showing flashes of grit and determination despite a 3–0 setback.

The AMCATS worked to generate offense throughout the game, putting the ball in play and staying aggressive at the plate. Madison Levesque provided a spark with a solid extra-base hit, while Angela Marie Gilmartin and Emelia Carvalho each added base knocks to keep pressure on the defense. The AMCATS consistently competed in their at-bats, refusing to go quietly and forcing long innings.

Defensively, the AMCATS held their ground and kept the game within reach. Clean play in the field and steady pitching helped limit damage and gave the offense opportunities to respond. Key plays across the infield helped Anna Maria stay composed in high-pressure moments.

While the scoreboard didn't tilt in their favor, the AMCATS showed resilience and effort from start to finish. The team's ability to compete deep into the game and create chances highlights a group that continues to push forward and build momentum.

The AMCATS return to action on Monday April 27th as they travel to Fitchburg, Mass. to take on the Falcons of Fitchburg State in a conference doubleheader matchup. Opening pitch is set for 3:00pm.
