Ron Scarborough Takes Over As Interim Head Women’s Soccer Coach
PAXTON, MA - Ron Scarborough has been named Interim Head Coach of the Anna Maria College Women's Soccer program for the 2025 season. He previously served as an Assistant Coach for the AMCATS in 2024 and now takes over from former Head Coach Neil Stafford, who led the team for two years before stepping down earlier this summer.
"I couldn't be happier that Ron is taking over," Stafford said. "He's a genuine, high-character, transformational leader with an authentic and holistic approach to student-athlete development. A true student of the game, Ron holds a B License from US Soccer and brings a deep commitment to both personal and athletic growth. He's a natural leader, relentless in recruiting, and someone who truly embodies what Anna Maria needs. The players & program will thrive under his guidance."
Scarborough brings extensive experience as a club soccer coach and has established strong relationships with numerous collegiate coaches, many of whom believe he is well-positioned to guide the AMCATS women's soccer program toward a successful future.
"I think this is a great hire for the Anna Maria Women's Soccer program," said Colby-Sawyer Head Coach Anthony Cosky. "I know Ron will continue to help elevate the program and have them playing soccer the way it should be played. I've been around him as a club coach, and he has a great rapport with the young players and knows the game well. I think his ties to local club teams will help a lot with recruiting more quality student-athletes and will have them competing for a conference championship within a couple of years."
Head Coach Chris Flint from Johnson & Wales added, "Ron's energy is contagious and exactly what the Anna Maria women's soccer program needs to continue the upward trajectory he and Neil have established over the last year and a half together. As someone I see out on the recruiting trail, Ron is a relentless recruiter and someone who will continue to elevate the level of players Anna Maria will bring into the program."
