Wildcats Too Much For Women's Soccer

PROVIDENCE, RI - On Monday, October 14th the Anna Maria College women's soccer team traveled to Providence, RI to take on the Johnson & Wales University Wildcats for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 5-0.

The Wildcats opened up the evening early with a goal from Grace Sheehan just over 18 minutes into the first half. JWU would tack on a second goal shortly after making it a 2-0 game just twenty minutes into the game. The AMCATS would fend off the Wildcats for the next twenty minutes before giving up another goal, this time off a Penalty Kick made by Ava Vaughan.

Trailing by three, the AMCATS were met at the start of the second half with a quick Wildcats goal just 37 seconds into the half. Despite the four goal deficit, the AMCATS held the Wildcats at bay for another 25 minutes before allowing the fifth and final goal of the evening. Freshman Sydney Cohen made her goalkeeping debut for the AMCATS stopping 12 shots in the loss to the Wildcats.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Sydney Cohen made her NCAA debut between the pipes for the AMCATS. (Has played as a field player all season)

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Wednesday, October 16th where they will travel to New London, CT to take on the Mitchell College Mariners for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening kickoff is set for 3:00pm.
