Lady AMCATS Kick Cancer
Paxton, Mass. - The Anna Maria College women's soccer program looks forward to hosting its second annual "Lady AMCATS Kick Cancer" campaign on Saturday morning in conjunction with the team's conference match-up against Emmanuel College at 11:00am on AMCAT Field.
Upon entry, fans will be handed a pink ribbon, which commemorates the fight against breast cancer. In addition, the AMCATS will don pink jerseys and headbands.
According to the Susan G. Komen Foundation web site, "more than 25 million people have been diagnosed [with breast cancer] and 10 million could die in the next 25 years without the cures."
"The AMC women's soccer program is happy to support such a worthy cause as the fight against breast cancer," Head Coach Rebecca Kennedy said. "It is a disease that each of us may be faced with in some manner in the future or have faced in the past. The more awareness and people involved in the search for the cure, the sooner it will be found. We are proud to wear pink, and we hope you will come and support this cause with us on Oct 22nd."
LIGHT THE NIGHT WALK
In addition to their Kick Cancer campaign the women's soccer team will also participate in the Light the Night Walk. The Light the Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual fundraising walk to pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer. Hundreds of thousands of participants raise funds for lifesaving research and patient services.
For more than 60 years, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has been solely focused on people with blood cancers. Presently, we have more than $250 million committed to research across the United States and in ten other countries.
