Volleyball Picked Seventh in GNAC Preseason Coaches Poll

Paxton, Mass.-- The Anna Maria College women's volleyball team has been tabbed to finish seventh in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Coaches Poll, as voted by the league's 12 head coaches. The AMCATS are coming off a historic season with a final record of 13-15 in 2014. They set their single-season win record and qualified for their first-ever postseason appearance in the process.

Coach Shomo begins her fifth year with the women's volleyball team this fall. Last year she led the team to their best season in program history. Shomo saw freshmen Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) become the first member of the program to earn GNAC weekly honors as she was tabbed the Rookie of the Week midway through the season.

The AMCATS return nine players including five key seniors: Brittany Jackson (Larchmont, N.Y.), Samantha Parker (Athol, Mass.), Brianna LaRegina (Troy, N.Y.), Jessica Goulet (Lawrence, Mass.) and Emily Adriaansen (Pepperell, Mass.). One-time Rookie of the Week, Foti will also be returning for her second season with the AMCATS this fall.

Adriaansen, a member of the GNAC all sportsmanship team in 2014, will captain this year's team along with fellow senior Sam Parker.

The AMCATS kick off their season at WPI on Tuesday, Sept. 1 for a 7:00 p.m. start.
